Blessings, by Anna Quindlen

I was happy to re-read this one so that L and I could read and discuss together.

This book is very good. Clearly, I love it or I wouldn't have just read it a second time!

Blessing is the last name of the main character, Lydia. It's also the name attached to the stately home on the fringe of a little town.

Coming from a small town myself, I identify with everyone knowing your business in 2 minutes flat. Lydia Blessing had escaped her small town, moved to New York, but something brings her back (no spoilers).

Lydia loves an ordered life. Routine. Doing and saying what's "right." This book bounces some of Lydia's ideas around, jumbles things.

This book is written chronologically, which I sooo appreciate. I'm a bit fed up with braided-stories in books -- back & forth & back again.

What else can I say? Anna Quindlen is a Pulitzer prize winning author who knows how to paint a scene in your (you, the reader) head.

Other characters: Skip Cuddy (hired man); Meridith (Lydia's daughter); Nadine (housekeeper & cook); Jennifer (Nadine's daughter).
