The Thursday Murder Club, by Richard Osman

I love the premise - four senior citizens solving murders. But I was forcing myself to keep turning pages -- this is not a page turner. I stopped at pg 100.  I dislike that authors these days are forced to reach a certain page count so that the book can be priced higher; thus, the author includes a myriad of detritus. This 351-page book could have been tightened by a good editor.

I quit on the page where the head police officer is squished on a couch at the retirement home - between Joyce and someone else -- and he's wondering if he could move to a roomier spot; and he's observing his minion (Donna Di Freitas) curled up in her own chair and....WHO CARES? This is the beginning of a chapter and the author is boring me to tears. The only reason I kept reading is because I wanted to read it before watching the Netflix show.

I'm putting Richard Osman in the category with Nicholas Sparks -- skip the book, just watch the show/movie.
