Publication was in 1999.
The author was the first drummer for Genesis (fyi, Phil Collins was 4th drummer for them). But I didn't know who Chris Stewart was til after reading the book. I like going into a book with limited info so that I feel unbiased.
Who hasn't dreamt of chucking it all and moving to a peaceful spot in an exotic spot? Let's be clear though, Frances Mayes' book, Under The Tuscan Sun, was pubbed in 1997. Anything else, including this one (or Stoned/cannibals) follows in her footsteps. That's okay though, because this author did the subject well. So much fun to read this book
Except the last couple chapters...those chapters felt extraneous, and honestly, I skimmed over the Christening chapter. One can only take so many anecdotal stories about this "dream" life.
So, it's both thumbs up on this book. You will laugh, I promise!
(Note, I read this book on my own because L was still catching up with me... I read fast!)
