Where'd You Go Bernadette? By Maria Semple

I read this book years ago and loved it, and suggested it to "L" to read on her own -- whilst I catch up with the book she just finished (see next post, Nobody Will Tell You This ...).

Bernadette is a wife, mom, gifted architect, and an agoraphobic -- NOT in that order! We see the latter, her agoraphobia trumps most else. It's interesting to see Bernadette/aka "Mom" ignore the fellow pta mothers who judge her.

I read this at a time in my life (about 10 yrs ago) when the idea of a mom "running away" for a while (not forever!) intrigued me.

L found the book interesting. Quirky characters.

Now, and only now, we will watch the movie. Always (always) read the book first!
